Start With the Label, Not the Price
The shelf tag says $65. The one next to it says $35. That second bottle looks like the deal, and often it isn't. Before you compare anything, flip the bottle over and find two numbers: total volume in mL and total cannabinoids in mg. THC, CBD, or both. If the label just says "1000 mg" with no breakdown, that number is extract weight, not active cannabinoid. That one missing detail can double your real cost per dose.

Divide the price by the milligrams of THC or CBD in the bottle. A $60 bottle with 600 mg of THC comes out to about $0.10 per mg. Run the same check on volume. A 15 mL bottle with 300 mg is twice as concentrated as a 30 mL bottle with the same 300 mg. Fewer drops per dose is fine, but dropper accuracy matters a lot more once a tincture gets strong.

In most US markets, THC-dominant medical tinctures land somewhere between $25 and $90 for a 100 mg to 1000 mg bottle, and CBD-dominant tinctures run $20 to $120 depending on milligrams. 1. Hemp-derived math on a cannabis label
"1000 mg" on a delta-8 or hemp CBD tincture means something different from 1000 mg of delta-9 THC from a licensed cultivator. Not better or worse, just not interchangeable. Read which cannabinoid, and whether it's hemp-derived or cannabis-derived.
2. Tiny bottles with big numbers
A 5 mL bottle at 1000 mg works out to 200 mg per mL. That's potent, and easy to overshoot if you dose by dropper without checking. If you're new, start at 1 mg to 2 mg of THC and use a marked dropper or an oral syringe.
3. Old stock and bad storage
Cannabinoids degrade with heat, light, and oxygen. A tincture that sat on a warm shelf for a year may test below its label. Ask for the production date. Keep yours upright and capped in a cool, dark cabinet, not the car and not the bathroom.
4. No COA for the batch
If the shop can't produce a lab result for the batch number printed on the bottle, the mg figure is a claim, not a measurement. That is the single biggest quality signal at any price point.
5. Buying 30 mL when you want five doses
Sealed tinctures hold up for one to three years, less once opened, and carrier oils can turn. If you're new, a smaller bottle at a slightly worse per-mg price beats a large bottle you never finish.

Price per bottle is a starting point, not an answer. The cheapest bottle up front is often the most expensive per dose, and the one with the cleanest lab sheet is worth the extra few dollars. Do the division, ask for the COA, and buy the size you'll finish.
