Visit fees run about $100 to $300. State card fees run about $25 to $200. Some states cut or waive the state fee for veterans, seniors, or people on Medicaid or SNAP. The appointment takes 15 to 30 minutes in most cases. Wait times for the card range from same-day to 30 days.

Qualifying Conditions

Each state writes its own list. Common entries include cancer, chronic pain, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, and post-traumatic stress disorder. What a Card Changes

What It Does Not Do

A card does not stop federal charges. It does not let you carry cannabis across state lines. It does not cover you at work. Employers in many states can still test for cannabis and fire for a positive result. A card also does not force a dispensary to serve you.
