cannabis humidity during drying

Getting cannabis humidity during drying right is the difference between a smooth, aromatic cure and a batch that crumbles to dust or grows fuzzy mold. The sweet spot sits between 55% and 65% relative humidity, and holding it there takes the right tools and a little patience. Below are the essentials we recommend to shoppers who want reliable, repeatable results from every harvest.

Common Humidity Levels for Slow Cannabis Dry: A Buying Guide

Key Features

• Digital hygrometer readable to ±2% relative humidity
• Two-way humidity packs that both release and absorb moisture
• Calibration kit or salt test for verifying sensor accuracy
• Airtight glass jars with rubber gaskets and metal clasps
• Magnetic or adhesive hygrometer mounts for jar lids
• Drying racks or hanging lines that allow even airflow
• Small oscillating fan for gentle, indirect air movement
• Latching storage tote for larger harvests

Materials and Specs

Look for a hygrometer with a sealed sensor and a display you can read without opening the jar, since every peek lets humidity escape. Humidity packs use a saturated salt solution inside a breathable membrane; they are sized by the volume of plant material they can stabilize, not by the size of the container. Glass jars with thick walls hold humidity more steadily than plastic, and food-grade stainless steel or coated wire racks resist rust in a damp drying room. Keep a spare calibration packet on hand so you can confirm your readings stay honest over time.

humidity during drying vs curing cannabis

What is the ideal humidity for drying cannabis?

Most growers aim for 55% to 65% relative humidity at 60 to 70°F. Staying in that band slows moisture loss enough to preserve terpenes while still preventing mold.

How long should cannabis dry at 60% humidity?

Plan on roughly 7 to 14 days, depending on bud density and airflow. Small stems should snap cleanly rather than bend before you move the harvest into jars.

Do humidity packs help during drying or only curing?

They are mainly for curing and storage, where they fine-tune moisture inside a sealed jar. During the initial dry, control the room's humidity instead and let packs take over once buds are jarred.
