Cannabis Defoliation for Outdoor Plants: A Comprehensive Guide

What is Defoliation?

Defoliation involves removing leaves from your cannabis plants. This encourages better air flow, light penetration, and overall plant health. It's a common practice among experienced growers, but it's also suitable for beginners looking to improve their cannabis crop.

When to Defoliate

The best time to defoliate is when your cannabis plants have reached a significant size but before the flowering stage begins. This ensures that the plant has enough energy to recover from the stress of defoliation.

How to Defoliate

1. Choose a calm, well-lit area to work in.
2. Wear gloves to protect your hands and a pair of scissors or pruning shears that are sharp and clean.
3. Start by removing any dead or yellowing leaves.
4. Gradually remove lower leaves that are shading the lower buds.
5. Be gentle to avoid damaging the plant's delicate tissues.

Post-Defoliation Care

After defoliation, it's important to provide your plants with extra care. Increase your feeding schedule and keep an eye on the plant's recovery. It may take a few days for the plant to adjust, but with proper care, it will soon start to show signs of growth.
