How to Buy, Step by Step
- Find the seller's license number. Every legal US cannabis business has one, and your state regulator publishes a public licensee list. Search the number there before anything else.
- Confirm the store delivers to your address and note what ID it checks at the door.
- Open the product page and look for the batch lab report, often labeled COA. If it is missing, ask the store for it in writing.
- Read the COA for total THC, total CBD, terpene content, pesticides, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbials. The lab should be independent of the grower.

- No COA, or a COA whose batch number does not match the jar in your hand.
- Prices far below your local market rate. Something is wrong with the product, the license, or both.
- Unregulated hemp-derived THC products, including delta-8. The FDA has not approved these for sale as food or dietary supplements and has flagged inconsistent labeling in this category.
- Payment requests to a personal account, gift cards, or crypto wallets. A licensed retailer uses a business payment process.
- Delivery by someone with no link to a licensed storefront. Ask which shop they represent and check the license.
- Buying a large jar of a strain you have never tried. Start with one gram, judge the effect, then restock.
After the Sale
Store concentrates in a cool, dark place with the lid sealed. Keep them away from heat, which degrades terpenes and THC. Clean your tool between strains, and write the batch number on the lid if you keep more than one jar open.
