Stopping Bud Rot: What to Do When It Starts

What is Bud Rot?

Bud rot is a fungal infection caused by several different types of fungi. It typically appears on the flowers and buds of cannabis plants and is characterized by dark, mushy spots that give off a musty odor. Left untreated, bud rot can quickly spread throughout the entire plant, rendering it useless.

Is Bud Rot Always unstoppable?

• Early Detection: One of the most critical factors in controlling bud rot is detecting it early. By monitoring your plants closely and regularly, you can spot the early signs and treat them before the infection becomes severe.
• Isolation: If you discover bud rot, it's crucial to isolate the affected plant. This will prevent the spores from spreading to other plants.
• Thorough Sanitation: Use proper cleaning and sanitation practices to remove any spores that may be lingering on tools, equipment, or surfaces in your grow space.
• Airflow: Ensuring good air circulation can help reduce the humidity in your grow space, making it less hospitable for fungal growth.

Professional Tips

Even with early detection and treatment, stopping bud rot entirely can sometimes be challenging. It's important to take proactive steps to prevent future infections. Consider these professional tips:
