If you want one name and you live in California, this is it. Raw Garden runs $28 to $45 a gram, the strain menu rotates constantly, and the flavor holds up batch to batch better than almost anything in that price band. Their refined live resin is the reason I point new dabbers here first: it is loud enough to be worth the money without edging into the $80 gram tier.

Live resin is a method before it is a brand. Growers freeze the plant right after chop, then extract with a hydrocarbon blend, usually butane, propane, or both. Nothing gets dried and cured, so the monoterpenes that carry citrus, pine, and gas stay in the oil. That is the entire point of paying more for it.

So when I rank brands, I look at five things: how quickly the material was frozen, the terpene percentage on the batch COA, whether the texture matches the smell, price per gram, and how easy it is to pull a batch-specific lab report. A brand that nails four of five is worth your money. One that nails two is coasting on packaging.
The other four worth buying
710 Labs
The ceiling. Expect $50 to $90 a gram depending on the drop and the state. Terp retention is excellent, the Persy line especially, and the limited-release model means the good stuff moves fast. You are paying a premium, and in my experience the gap between a great 710 batch and a great Raw Garden batch is smaller than the price gap suggests.
Green Dot Labs
Colorado's benchmark. Black Label live resin lands around $40 to $70 a gram and leans hard into gas, funk, and chem profiles. Small-batch production, tight consistency. Outside Colorado you are mostly out of luck.
Alien Labs and Connected
California and Arizona, roughly $45 to $70 a gram. Cultivar-focused, high terpene numbers, and a reputation built on loud flavor rather than volume. Great when you want one specific strain done properly.
Humblebee
The Michigan value play at $25 to $40 a gram. Big strain list, solid terp content for the price, and it works just as well in a cart as it does on a nail. This is what I would buy if I were dabbing daily on a budget.
Cresco
Multi-state and easy to find, usually $25 to $40 a gram. Not the most exciting oil on the shelf, but it is consistent, widely tested, and rarely a bad call when the shop's top tier is sold out.
How to read a live resin label
- Total terpenes: under 3% is thin for live resin. 5% and up is where things get interesting.
- Harvest date versus package date. A long gap tells you how long the jar sat in a warehouse.
- Batch-level COA, not a brand-level one. A single lab report for an entire company tells you nothing about the gram in your hand.
- Texture: sauce, badder, budder, sugar. A wet sugar that smells like fresh citrus peel is a good sign.
- Solvent type. Butane and propane blends are standard. Ask if it matters to you.
Red flags at the counter
- Uniformly pale, near-white oil with a flat nose. That usually means CRC was used to strip color, and it can take terpenes with it.
- No batch COA, or a COA whose harvest date does not match the label.
- Grams under $20 in a market where decent flower is $40 an eighth. Something got cut to hit that number.
Bottom line
Raw Garden if you want one answer. 710 Labs if you want the ceiling and will pay for it. Green Dot in Colorado, Humblebee in Michigan, Cresco when you want a reliable gram under $40. Buy where the staff stores concentrate somewhere cool and will hand you a batch COA without sighing, and you will taste the difference between real live resin and the cured stuff sitting next to it.
